To decrease teen birth rates, teens need factual information about the conditions under which pregnancy can occur, along with public health efforts aimed at reducing or delaying teens' sexual activities, according to the report released today by researchers for the Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention.

Yes, this is becoming obvious. Education is key!

Others gave various reasons for not using birth control — 24 percent said their partner did not want to use contraception, 13 percent said they had trouble getting birth control, 9 percent said they experienced side effects from using contraception and 8 percent said they thought their sex partner was sterile. Twenty-two percent of the teens said they did not mind getting pregnant.

Wow, kind of shocked 22% didn't mind getting pregnant. I would think that would be one of the lower reasons

Very curious how everyone on the vine interprets this article and these numbers!

My first thought was WTF!!!

24 percent said their partner did not want to use contraception

Translation their partner was an ignorant a$$hole. If the woman, or in this case girl, wants you to use protection then you use protection. Its her body!

Yes I realize these are teen boys, but still!

So true. And that 24% of the teen dads obviously didn't care about getting their partner pregnant. Right around the same amount for teen moms that didn't care which was 22%. Eeekk so right around 50% of teen parents didn't care about pregnancy. Problem

Honestly I think the glamorization of parenthood has something to do with it.
